I think I got it down, how to use the Burn1. Just insert chip, tell it to erase, then load buffer, then program chip. Thats it?
The chip addressing? Start Hex, End Hex and Buffer Addressing: Start and End? I dont know about that. What I did was erase, then load, then program a few times then rechecked the read part and verified against buffer. I dont knwo if it was real , but it changed every time. I guess I can read instructions , but any advice on how to burn/program useing the BURN1 would be greatly appreciated. Steve
Thats it. I have used mine to upload bins that Alvin sent me, I made a fan and TC lock up change before getting an emissions test. So with that I have verified it works. And of course I have used it to read chips.
You got it. With the latest software release once you select the chip type, it automatically does the offset to burn the data to the correct starting point so you no longer need to stack or maually set the offset, sweet!
You can download TunerPro for free and read your bin data, just need the correct ECM file.
But I must qualify this answer by telling you I know little about tuning. (thats why I paid Alvin to do mine) But to change the section that is basicially switching things on or off and changing the constants like fan on at a set temp., Converter lockup at xx mph etc is pretty simple. The timing tables VE tables etc are where I am more comfortable having a pro do it for me. And believe me they do make a difference.

When do you have your converter lock up? So you use tuner CATS, then change minor things on your chip, basically altering Alvins stuff, but not heavy stuff like VE table. So, do you read it with CATS, then change it, and save the file then load buffer and reporgram the chip with the BURN1?
I think the factory setting was 41, I think Alvin moved it to about 46.
I had set it back to 41 and raised my fan speeds back to the factory setting when I was preparing to have the emissions test run. It passed and I have not set them back yet.
But yes with the reflashable chips that is all that is required.
