$1795 for new cats??? I need an option!
Hey,
Anyone replace their late C4 (mine's a 95) cats with aftermarket systems? Where can I find them, and how much? This is robbery, even for a Vette. I'm interested in either eliminating them with a replacement H-orX-pipe, or adding one with cats...the guys at Bassani and Dr. Gas aren't a whole lot of help either. If anyone's done it, I would be eternally grateful for the assist!!!

1795  . A lot of guys have gone to Random technologies bullet cats. I am going to go to those when mine need to be replaced. They are much cheaper.

Random Technologies just came out with replacement LT1/LT4 cats. They are about 300 each side. Random Technologies has some links on their site for different places that sell their equipment. I did find a place that had the pricing on line for them.
Hope it helps

Thanks everyone,
I found a place in NC (More Performance, Inc) that sells the Random cats for 269 a pop. Now I just have to figure out how in the hell to gt the old ones off so I can replace them. I live in Orlando, and really don't know a reputable aftermarket wrench in town, and we all know about dealers... :mad

here's an option --- how about NO cats ?? mid america has a complete stock exhaust, w/o cats ........ if you have to have an emissions insp. , i would reccommend the random technologys cat, dump the pre-cats, the only purpose they serve is to bake your starter ......

I just bought a pair of used ones at Carlisle last week for $150.00. I had them cut open and gutted. I installed them and bought O2 Simms from MET for the two rear O2 sensors. :jester
What a difference in performance and the OB11 light doesn't come on.:clown
I will keep my original CATS if I ever have to put them back on someday. :chevy

Hey guys!! Random tech exact fit cats are good but still at $300 each that aint cheap! ( at least not compared to factory replacements!! ) I have Catco free flow cats that I got from Summit and they look identical to the Random tech's but without the name. And they actually fit better then my buddies Random Techs fit on his '93. Oh, and I paid about $119 each for them. Hope this helps.

$1795?  I bought a set of gutted ones for $50 and put them on. No codes and better performance. I would have opted for the Random cats but $325 a piece is just too much. You can get a set of long tubes for that price. Good luck.

You may be able to get the cats replaced under the federally mandated 8 year 80,000 mile warranty for catalytic converters. Read your owners manual under warranty coverage and give it a shot. Of course, they'll probably say that your car is modified and therefore ineligible.

I have a Walker Y pipe cat eliminator for the pre-cats and the main cat is still intact. Don't know if they offer one for your car but its worth looking into.

TNT,
If you need an excellent wrench in Orlando, give Mike Norris of Norris Motorsports a call. He is a forum sponsor. He is located in Ocoee. Very, very good to work with :yesnod: He helped me out when I got into some self inflected jams.

Flame Red,
I'm giving him a call tomorrow...the hardest thing about moving here was leaving my old wrench back in Melbourne...since I could drive, he's been the only one I've allowed to get near any of my cars...especially the vette! Hard to establish trust, (prime example-Holler Chevrolet and their $1800 cats) but one thing's for sure, if he's good enough for you guys here, he's good enough for me. I owe ya a beer for this one! Shoot me an email sometime, I'm in Metrowest...gotta get some local vettes corralled!
