Hey, I'm a new Corvette owner! Have a question...
Nice forum, I just bought my first Vette. An '87 automatic with 160,000 mi and it was a one owner for $3000.00. Flawless condition! I think it was God's grace on that one!
Has anyone moved the maf close to the throttle body inlet and attached a K&N universal to the maf? Seems like it would improve throttle response.

Your wasting your money dude. Moving the sensor to cooler area is ok in theory but there is a better way. If you want it to read cooler temps just bypass the TB. After I did that to my old 86 the temps were so much cooler I couldnt believe it. Bypass the TB and you'll achieve the same results...which aren't much anyway, but it still worthwhile.

i think that the panel filter where it is in K&N form is about as good as its going to get. My next attemted self mod is to delete the accordian between the MAF and TB and install a straight tube.

Okay now I feel screwed! Hehe
I bought an Auto '88 for $8750 w/55k mi
Few minor problems, like goodiety exhaust, goodiety tint job (easy to remove), stereo was toast, and the ac screwed up.

Great deal. You don't want anymore power behind an engine with 160k miles. Unless the previous owner rebuilt the engine, the first mods I would do are some engine maintenence. Timing chain among other things unless he already did it.
