Which thermo brand and model do you use for 160 degrees with an 87? Also why can't you just eliminate the thermo if you live in a hot place like Florida?

I don't know the brands available - I am sticking with the stock 180.
Do NOT eliminate thermostat. I have heard that it can increase temps - coolant spending less time in radiator or something like that.
Make sure the system is CLEAN inside and out, use good coolant and ratios, bleed air out repeatedly and top off. You should be good to go.

You want to use a thermostat to get your motor up to operating temps in a timely manner. In colder climates the motor would never reach normal operating temps.
I bought a Powerstat 160 at a local speed shop (Jegs). They were about $5.00 cheaper than MAD, no shipping and a week faster since I just walked in, paid for it, and left. :D

A 160 TS will do little without a fan switch or ECM fan on changes. I lost a lot of MPGs going to a 180. Don't trick the computer, it knows what it's doing.
