Default The Vette Died

I thought I would start the Vette and let her run for awhile today. I went to turn her over and she was dead, and I mean dead. Through the battery charger on and nothing, so I got the out the cables and gave her a boost. She caught on the first crank and came to life. It would not idle on its own so I held it at 1000 rpm till it would. I thought it was because it is -13 here today. I had to go to town so I thought I would let her run until I came home and when I did it was not running anymore. I jump started it again to put it back in the garage and it sounded like the starter was shot but it started back up. Drove it back into her bay and it sat and ran for about 2 min and then just quit. It was just like you shut off the key. Now it is very cold and I had to unload the car and two kids so I had no time to check it out.
My question is... would you think that it would be the battery that is the problem, not holding a charge and that would cause the computer to shut down because of no power? I will check that later to see but if it is not that what should I check next, the starter? The last time the car was started it started right up and ran fine, that was about 2 weeks ago. So what do you think it could be.?

I would blame it on a frozen battery... that is cold, yo.

Also, check to be sure that the battery connections are good and clean.

For this reason I use the Battery Tender. First couple of years I never did. Then I needed a new Battery, and then a year later an Alt. I figure it's just cheaper in the long run to buy the Battery Tender, and save my Battery and Alt.

That happened to me last year. Battery and alternator at the same time. I bought a small automatic charger for under $25 at Autozone.

Most computer functions use 5 volts or less. If it died because of low voltage, it was the ignition system that gave up first.

RACE ON!!!

I always leave mine with a battery tender on, it may sit for a week and now for 4 months before it's started again. I don't need the agravation of buying a new battery or alternator and ignition parts every time it's parked for any length of time!

You need to get a dope battery tender. I copped mine from Harbor Freight Tools six years ago and it still works fine.
