So how badly did I **** up my new Diehard battery?
It's been sitting for maybe 2 weeks at 2.5volts. New diehard gold as of two months ago. (yeah I know, Diehard is just paying extra for a warranty on a crappy battery). I don't know how that happened, I had the interior/ctsy fuse out and was working on the dash and with the throttle body. Nothing turned on when I hooked up the battery charger.
What do you guys think?

That is a long time at a discharged rate... doubt it will take a full charge again... might want to get that warranty out & see if they will exchange it... You don't have to tell em you caused it. Just went out & it was dead the next AM... :-)

Seriously, I've treated batteries worse than that for longer periods of time. I have a trick that works to bring em back but I don't want to post it.
Give it a charge and see if it takes.

Sht no, I'd post that.
It isn't using a dremel to change the date either.

Charge it up and you'll be fine. If not you have a 90 day free replacement I beleive on their batteries and after that it is pro-rated. If it holds at 13-13.5 volts you are good to go.

I have a craphard GOLD and I think it lasted... 2 months? It still holds a charge but I have to start/run the car every 4-5 days or it dies. It's my second one...
I looked for a short or high bleed and didn't find one, so I think it's just the el-cheapo batteries from autozone. But the warranties are worth it if you don't mind swapping them out every few months. Lol.
That's what you get for walmarting your vette, mang!

I think you didn't do the battery any good, but probably did less real damage than you might expect.
Put it on a trickle charge until it is fully charged. If 'fully charged' doesn't do the job, then take it back. They'll just probably pro-rate it and it'll cost you a few bucks for a new one.
Then.....disconnect the battery any time you are working on the systems.

I had to buy three seperate starters (autozone) the last time around too as the first two wouldn't crank ("rebuilt in box" so to speak) - does that mean it's the battery cable? I understand your point, but given the quality of parts and craftsmanship at the chain parts stores these days, I'm more likely to suspect the replacement parts before my 23 year old vette.
PS: What size headers should I get???
