Hey everyone,

As many here know i'm replacing my '85 harness with an '86 harness. I noticed that the headlight motor relays (at least I'm pretty sure they are connectors for the headlight motor relays) are completely different from '85 to '86. The '85 harness has three relays, the '86 harness appears to have two.

Can anyone confirm this? If this is true, can anyone provide me with a part number for the two relays I will need for the '86 harness?

My parts book shows both a "headlamp activation relay" and a "headlamp activation isolation relay".

For 1984 to 1987 use, 2) 10031018 "headlamp activation relay"
For 1984 to 1985 use, 1) 10031837 "headlamp activation isolation relay"
For 1986 to 1988 use, 1) 10039961 "headlamp activation isolation relay"

The illustration shows all three relays on the left side of the car, up front, all mounted to a single bracket and all three underneath a single cover. The part number of the harness that connects to all three relays has a different part number for each of the these years, 1984, 1985, 1986, and 1987. I hope that helps.

In 8A-102, 0 and 1 in the factory service manual for the 86 it has 3 relays. Left door motor, Right door motor, and Isolation relay.

Thanks for the info guys. To clarify my confusion I pulled back the loom a few inches from the connectors and it looks like someone grafted in different connectors for some reason. I'm going to install the proper connectors from my '85 harness and go from there.

It's all set now. Thanks for the part numbers. Using them and my wiring diagram I got them wired up and the headlights are now working for the first time.

Unfortunatley they sound pretty loud. Probably a headlight motor gear set replace in my future...
