Default ZR1 Wheel Question

Alright....I've checked the archives, and I know this is a very common topic, but I'm still slighlty confused. I found from zr1netregistry.com that the factory offset for the ZR1 rear wheels 36mm. The AFS ZR1 rear wheels have 36.5mm offset for the 84-87 years and 50mm offset for the 88-96 models.

I purchased a set of factory 1990 ZR1 sawblades (hey, everyone has the five stars...I wanted to be different and look a little stock from the side) for my 1986. Since the backspacing is similar on the factory ZR1 rim (36mm) to the AFS specific for my year (36.5mm) will I be able to simply mount the 1990 sawblades I bought on the rear (I know I will need spacers on the front), or is the difference in backspacing enough to force a small spacer on the rear (I don't know the factory backspace on the ZR1 wheels)?

Stock ZR-1 rear offset does fit the 1984-1987 without spacer.

Out-freakin'-standing!

Now, if I'm doing this right (the math, that is), I need about a 3/4" spacer for the front 17x9.5 wheels right?

Yes and no The wheel will bolt on with no problem and clear the calipers and suspension, but the ZR-1 body was wider in the rear to handle the difference in offset and the 11" wide ZR-1-specific rear wheels. The ZR-1 door skins and rear quarter panels were specific to the car so the wheel/tire would fit inside the wheel well opening.

These wheels on your coupe will stick out about 1.5"

The ZR-1 style wheels from the 96 Grand Sport coupe have a different offset and those wheels will work fine on coupes.

No, it will only fit a 1984-1987. The 1988-1996 has a different offset on the wheels and need ZR-1 'style' wheels with 50mm offset. The 36mm offset ZR-1 wheel will be too far out and an adapter will make it worse.

Ofcourse they will fit, they will just stick out as c4cruiser said. Buy the GrandSport offset or put fender flares on it

Grandsport offset needs the flares ... ZR1 offset will stick out more, too much for me.
