Default New Vette Owner Temp ?

I have a 95 coupe 6sp LT1. I have concern about the coolant temp. While in stop and go traffic the temp will rise to 230 and fall to about 210 repeatedly. When on the highway it will barely reach 190. Is this normal

pretty much.

The LT1 is designed to run at higher temps. 230 is perfectly normal.

Whatever you do, don't do a lower temp t-stat... what a joke that is.

However, the fans kick in at 230 and turn off at 215, so 230 to 210 isn't all that far outta reach.

What I would recommend is a quick reprogram of the eprom to lower those temps to say 215-200 or so.

Make sure the inlet is clean (no leaves and debris), the coolant is fresh (DexCool compatible) and add a bottle of Redline Water Wetter.

The temps should be even lower if its cold outside. I rarely see my engine oil temp over 160 degrees.

Your cooling system is working as the General designed it to.

If you change coolant make sure you "burp" the system per the owners manual. And don't ever mix the green antifreeze with the red stuff.

I'm not happy until my engine oil temp reaches 200 degrees. Even if it's cold outside (40 to 50 degrees) my water temps stay above 190 at 70mph and will climb to the 230 mark at idle until the second fan kicks in.

with Bogus. You can also turn the A/C on and make both fans work. I didn't like seeing my temps go to 230 either, but this is normal for a clean combustion in the LT1 vette.

with RRT. I often run with my AC on so that the 2nd fan is running BTW you will see those temps even in the winter particularly if you drive in stop&go traffic.

Default New Vette Owner Temp ?

According to Donovan, it should be right at 98.6 degrees F.
