Hi guys, hey i went out tonight to get in my 91 and it seemed like it had a dead battery, no click, no nothing. I put the charger on it, but the charger had a red light on it that said "check", i couldnt figure out why it wouldnt charge, so i disconnected both + and - battery cables and put bolts in their place and hooked the charger back up to them, now it is charging, can anyone tell me why this is happening? DO i have a short in the cables somewhere?

Hard to say. It could be anything. Charge battery and have it load tested. If good, check connections at battery and starter.

It won't charge the battery unless it is unhooked from the car. It's not just your car.
On my 87, the ground cable goes to the block next to the oil filter mount. There are many grounds there that also hook to it. Be sure that they are clean and tight. The large bolt will have a star washer between the cable and the block to give a good connection. Pull the bolt and sand everything clean and shiny if you have any doubt.
I had the same thing happen on my 90. I was about to change the cables then I found that they were just not tight at the connection on coil, just inside the drivers side fender. Hope this might help. I guess it's actually inside the drivers side Louver areanot sure what its called. Just follow the wires. It has been fine since then.
