Default 85 TPS sensor issue.

I went through the procedure listed for setting my TPS and adjusted it so it read .54 closed so the procedure said to check it also at full throttle i removed the plastic tube going the air filter and verified that the blades were fully open it only reads 4.7 volts! what next?

Good volt numbers, just under the magical 5 most never see!

You did know you can advance your tps abit more,I think up to .64 or so for an slight increase in power,or of throttle response,I forget which claim it is.Cant go too much or shat happens.

I think 65Z01 has something on his website about it too.Dont think you need it though with your settings being close to dead on.

I have tried different settings, and ended up going back to .54. Higher numbers gives faster throttle response but makes it idle too high and erraticly. You can accomplish the same feeling of more power by giving it more gas faster. I try to drive smoothly most of the time now that I had it for a year and only jump on it occasionally. Hopefully it will last longer than hot rodding it all the time.

4.7 is plenty. I think 4.1v is all you need for the computer to see wide open throttle.

Actually, the TPS voltage only affects the engine's reaction to the throttle; throttle response. It does not give the car one more ounce of horsepower or torque. There is no increase in performance. When I was experimenting with mine, I found it difficult to maintain a steady highway speed with the voltage set too high, too sensitive. If you like the way it feels, go for it. Just don't think you have accomplished something you haven't.

RACE ON!!!

Put it all back together and know it is correct.

Anytime you move the postion of the throttle plates, it will change the voltage of the TPS.

69% of 5.0V is considered full throttle to the ECM. At least in 1987 it was.
