Can you lubricate ignition lock cylinder?
Just read archived C3 post about lubricating by putting Mobil 1 on key.
Doesn't seem like that would be good for VATS.

Yikes. The common (correct) way to lubricate locks is with dry graphite lubricant...or powdered pencil lead, basically the same thing :D It did wonders to my locking gas cap which was getting reeeaaalll sticky. I don't know if it will interfere with VATS but I doubt it.

You can buy graphite powder mixed with mineral spirits. Once its in the lock, the mineral spirits evaporates leaving just the graphite. A lot easier to get in the lock than powdered graphite. It may be named Lock-Ez or something similar. Works great. I think you need to stay away from oil as they turn gummy after a few years.
