Seat belt light stays on - 1990
In searching through the archives, it seems like I might have that common problem associated with a 1990. Many threads reference both the infl rest warning light and seatbelt warning light as staying on when there is a corrosion issue with the SIR sensors. My question is, if I have a corrision issue, wouldn't both warning lights stay on and not just my seat belt light? If only the seat belt warning light is, would that be more of an issue with seat belt wiring? Thanks for any input you can provide.

check the buckle ( the female end) see if the wire is plugged in and everything is connected well and clean. Ive seen some crazy stuff happen with those things. i spilled a can of soda once and my light got stuck on. i thought something was really wrong. after i took all the interior involved with the spill out, i saw that the wire was broken and was holding on by a single strand of copper. replaced the wire and i was golden....but this was on a 88 Z24 cavalier, but sure gm hasn't changed too much between the models and years.

79 vette 90 most of the time it's the right side frame sensor that's bad. $60 bucks from GM. It's on the frame rail right in front of the firewall. But before doing any diagnostic work on the Seatbelt and INFL REST light DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. Mid America sells a button type reset tool for 20 bucks and it also tells you the repair on this. If ya need any more help on this repair let me know I did a bunch of them. Pipe

that sensor is now $118.88 w/shipping from gmpartsdirect. p/n 10094613 '84-96 corvette.
usually its the corrosion that forms between the frame and the sensor itself on the driver's side, which then causes a faulty ground. the ground fault causes the seat belt + infl rest light to go on concurrently. this can be solved by sanding the underside of the sensor, applying star washers and re-installing the sensor.
then remove the code a ground to k pins (there's a sequence to do this) on aldl terminal.
thats my understanding. correct me if i'm wrong.

Good add on Hotrod 90 it might also help putting a little dielectric grease on the bottom of the sensor before re installing it also. Can't believe the sensor went to $118 crooks. Good luck with the fix. Pipe
