Couple of symptons here before I take it to a shop (it should be noted that I'm a transmission idiot...) Car is an 86 auto
1. Sever lag (lack of power) from stop to about 1200-1500 rpm, then it seems to kick in gear. I am moving, just a definite lack of power to the wheels. It's ok on down shifts, and shifts well....
2. On the highway, at say 75 mph, when I left off the gas it acts as a manual would. Meaning, instead of coasting to a slower speed, the engine rpm's pull it down, almost like I popped it into a lower gear.
It does sound lock up related. Crawl under the car and look at the drivers side of the trans, towards the rear of the pan. 2 inches above the pan rail is a white, 4 prong plug. Unhook the connector and go for a test ride. If it clears up, it is lock up for sure. Then you can begin to diagnose the problem in the lock up curcuit.
