Default Need Some Cruise Control Help

I've got a thread running on the C4 General board - Cruise Control - trying to get help on sorting out why mine doesn't work.

Please take a look and give me any feedback on how to solve this. I don't want to duplicate it on this board.

Thanks,

Jake

Not related, but looking at your avatar, your front rims are on the wrong sides.

"Oh, Grand Ma, what sharp little eyes you have", LOL

Those photos were taken by the previous owner when he was advertising the car for sale. I noticed it right off too and they were swapped before I took delivery.

BTW, the idiot tire changer damaged the two LTP sensors in the process, which the seller now has to replace at no cost to me.

See, it's one of the things I do to get attention; I've got this low self-esteem thing going on. LOL

I know a big problem in these is the vaccum lines.

They either rub or dryrot, thats where I would start.

During my engine rebuild (new head gaskets, water pump, etc) I found a vacuum hose by the distro that had a tiny hole in it. Replaced it and I got the cruise to work again.......now if I could just get it to hold speed. It drops about 1 mph every 10 seconds. Any ideas??

Default I feel your pain

Mine doesn't work either. I found the vacuum line going to manifold was not connected, one of the T fitting melted. Somewhere behind the distibutor, so I have to dig in there and find the connection so I can fix it. Hopefully that will fix my problem.

For the dropping speed. I would check you vacuum lines, maybe there is another slow leave and you are not keeping enough vacuum to maintain speed?

Underneath the passenger side fuel rail cover there is a plastic "T" fitting that is prone to rot and breaking. It just needs to be replaced.

Very common on the LTx's.

Good luck.

I had to readjust the sensor under the pedal after replacing my brake booster. That may be a good place to check.
