Default brake problems

i just got my new ebc rotors and successfully put them on the front. I am in the process of doing the rear now but im stuck. The old brake pads were worn down all the way, so when i put the new ones on there is only a quarter of an inch gap between them preventing me from sliding it onto the rotor. I have removed the brake line to remove pressure and have used a wrench to open it up as much as possible. Does the emergency brake have somthing to do with it? im confused and irritated

the emergency brakes is the cable thingy. if the brake handle is released, all should be ok.

There is a tool that presses the piston all the way back, so you may want to invest the 7.00 or so for one.

You should be able to use a c-clamp to press it back in.

I usually use a C-clamp to push the piston(s) back in. I would use an old brake pad or a small block of wood to make sure you don't mar the piston - it also gives more room to put the clamp.

Be sure you have opened the bleed screw to relieve the pressure as you push the piston back into the bore. Using a C-clamp works well along with a flat piece of wood. The piston has to flush in the bore to get your new pads to fit over the rotors.

dale 1990, as you press in the piston with a c clamp or wrench you will notice on the upper side there is a pin pushing the piston close to the rotor. there is a rubber seal around a grease joint that the emergency brake lever uses. holding the lever on is a little clip. remover the clip and the emergency brake lever comes off. you will then beable to press the piston in. if you are still confused i will take pictures for you, just pm me .
