Default Duplicating VATS key...

Of course my VATS has already been disabled. But it is 30 dollars to duplicate it vs. $1 duplication of the key used to open the car. Is there a non-VATS key that I can use that will fit a VATS keyhole?

If I remember the vats keys are longer for the chip so a "plain" key wont fit. but there should be other sources for less expensive keys.

Do a search on the forum or google CLK Supplies. Another forum member had mentioned them as a supplier of Vats keys and I know I've repeated it in threads. Bought 3 blank keys from them and it was less than $15 with shipping. Cost me 50 cents to have them cut locally.

You can make a non-Vat key work (go in the slot and turn the tumbler), but you will need to file part of the shoulder off the non-vat key so that it goes far enough in.

DM's right. Wal-mart's access+ key blanks are long enough to do the trick.
They are odd shaped. I had to talk the lady into cutting it, she knew about vats,
but it works ok. benny

Back when I work at a hardware store I must have made 60,000 or 70,000 keys and yes any place that cuts keys should have a key that will work with out filing them. The ilco part# is B77 if I recall.

Goto Walmart, Home Depot..etc... And have them use a ACCESS #4 key blank. It has the same key patern as the VATS, but without the chip. I have done this many times....
