Okay here we go. My 85 is having a hard time starting cold. It will start back up after driving for awhile but it is still a little sluggish. Going through alot of fuel. I let it set for awhile this winter with out starting it. It started fine prior to this. Am thinking along these lines. TPS, ICM, O2 sensor. Nothing on dash indicator. Any and all information would be appreciated
I would suggest to check the fuel pressure with the key "on" to see if the fuel pump relay is working (should be able to hear the pump prime for 2 seconds with the key on). Check to see how much pressure is there at key "on", start up, and driving. Could be a faulty fuel pump relay. Also check the cold start valve connector with a test light or noid light when the engine temp is below 95*. A problem with the cold start system would not explain "It will start back up after driving for awhile but it is still a little sluggish".
Thanks for the reply. Think we'll wait for the weather to warm just a little more. Saw fuel leak around rings and injector. TPS hanging on by a thread, barely. Just to name a couple. We had a really hard winter this year and my baby didn't like it. I always tell everyone who asks that I don't own this vette it owns me, and I wouldn't trade for any other car. Except another vette.
Yes, definitely. If you have any significant fuel leak this will drop the fuel pressure and cause a hard start cold or hot. Sounds like the injector o-rings are leaking. The only way to fix that is to pull the injectors out. Not an easy task, but no other choice. After you have done that you can fix the TPS. It should hold very steady when mounted on the throttle body. The closed throttle voltage should read .54v and >4.0v at WOT. You will need a volt meter to test it.
