I have a '91 L98. My check gauges light came on yesterday. The only thing that appeared to be off was the oil temp gauge. The needle barely moved from minimum. I checked the oil. It was quite warm and full. After a couple hours sitting, I drove home and the check gauges light was off. Anyone have that happen? On another note, every once in a while, whether I am moving or sitting in park, my ABS Active light comes on for about a second. What's up with that? I have never been touching the brakes any time that light comes on.
I am not familiar with a "Check Gauges" light. Are you sure it didn't say "Check Engine"? Or "Service Engine Soon"? If so, the ECM received a sensor reading that was out of line with all the other sensor readings. Pull your trouble codes to see which circuit sent the erroneous info, then trouble shoot to find out why.

It's the red check gauges light that is with the speedo, on the right side.
The check gauges light comes on for many different reasons. The most obvious is oil temp, pressure, coolant temp and volts, but also for gasoline. If you go to reserve and keep going, the check gauges light will come on to remind you to get gas.

Oil pressure is good. Coolant temp was in normal range. Voltage was where it should be. I have an almost full tank. That leaves the oil temp gauge. Thanks. I will get it checked.
