can't put 91 L98 oil level sensor in 400 pan?
I have a 91, L98. I am building a 413 cid engine. I have installed a bullet proof rotating assembly including an expensive forged crank. I have been doing well instrumenting the engine to feed the computer all the required inputs, until now. It just dawned on me that the 400 oil pan has no provision for the screw-in oil level sensor.
Sense the L98 is a 1 pc rear seal and the 400 is a 2 pc rear seal the oil pans are not interchangeable. A 1 pc seal addapter would require me to replace the crank. I'm thinking of several posabilities but don't know if they are good.
1.) Weld a screw-in adapter into the 400 pan.
2.) Bypass or eliminate the level sensor (Don't know the in's and out's)
3.) Find out if someone makes an oil pan like this.
Any experiance here would be appreciated.
Thanks

It would be so easy to just to weld a bung onto the the 400 2pcs seal pan and install the oil level sensor.why remove it or bypass it ,its a great engine safety feature .but if you want to buy a pan with the sensor bung already installed and its a 7 quart pan with baffles and trap doors then canton makes a road race pan for the 84-91 vettes available for the 1 or 2 pcs seal blocks.
