Ok, here's a dumb question. I just replaced my stock catback exhaust on my '94 LT-1. From the cats back i now have: an H pipe, then chambered pipes, then muffler eliminators. The sound is great and exactly what i was looking for.
My question is this....what exactly is that "gurgling" sound while slowing down with my foot off of the gas? Sometimes it is a "gurgling" followed by a "crackling" or "popping" sound. i mean, don't get me wrong...i love it and i know it is a common sound on muscle cars, but...i'm curious exactly what causes that sound..and, is it bad for the car?

Free-er flowing exhaust = Less back pressure= more popping on decel. It is a natural by-product of a free flowing exhaust. Won't cause any problems. Some like the sound, some don't. It's all good as far as I am concerned.
