Rent-a-car wasn't too bad, for a Focus.

Drove it as is, didn't even put air in the tires. Which it really needed.

Total change from what I'm used to driving.

Fun, nicely run event.

Pics to follow

Brian, it ended up being a nice day to race. We had 105 drivers I was
sixth overall but the car owner was 1 tenth ahead of me. We are running this Saturday and Sunday at Falcone Field thats just off of interstate 70 by Washington PA. I will not make it on Saturday but will be there Sunday weather permitting.

I plan on going back for the Vette Memorial day weekend.
I was looking at corporate housing today, someone said the magic word "garage!"

I figure I'll just drive out on the CCW's which means street tires.

But I need both 335/18's and 335/17's which is actually hard to get in anything beside Hoosier race compounds.

Either that or put street tires on the stock rims and ship the race rims out here separate. With my luck they'll get lost in the mail!

I've got a car hauler, but nothing to tow it as of yet.
I'm waiting till the fall to get a winter ride/tow vehicle when the contract is up and I'm back east.

For now, I'm concentrating on getting the stock design to work.

I found out what the issue was, the cages races are plastic!

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ht=hub+plastic

I'm working with someone who's redesigned cassette bearings to work before. He says, despite the fact that the bearings are too close together, you can get them to last, if the grease is kept fresh. Which means making them rebuildable, which means getting rid of the plastic cages, so they don't obliterate when you take them apart. If I can get the stock design to work, we'd be better off. That way even people in the stock classes can run them.

It was nice to meet you last weekend. I hope you are able to get your car down here soon we always need more Corvettes running.

I emailed tech and got the following:

Brian:

I did some checking, and the street tire class is open to all classes no already on street tires (STS, STS2, STX, STU, and any other Street tire class I am forgetting.)

So follow the rules for your class for wheel size, and you must use a street tire with tread wear greater then 100.

For street prepared, and street mod, any size wheel and tire is allowed.

Sorry for the confussion.

Tracey

There's an autocross coming up June 2nd and 3rd down in Cumberland MD if you'd be interested, a little less then a 2 hr drive down. http://www.nationalroadrally.com/autox2007.html The Steeltown vette crew from Pittsburg usually brings a few down to run there.

It's here!

I just pulled in 5min ago.

Managed to get fresh street tires, change the oil, and the brake pads.

Even replaced a few of the wheels studs in the process

Special thanks to Gary (Hardbar) Hoffman, and his wife for letting me borrow his tools on a holiday Sunday.

Cumberland sounds great

Brian I will not be going to Cumberland this weekend. The engine is not ready yet and my next day off from work is not till the 17 of June so I only have a little time each day to work on it.

Glad you got back safe and sound.

If your going to go to Cumberland you have to register ahead of time they limit there events to 100 people. And if there going over to the Doctors house for the dinner on Saturday make sure you sign up for it It's some thing every Corvette lover should see, his garages are full of Corvettes and Corvette stuff.

I believe the online registration is closed, but if you are interested in running down Cumberland this weekend, let me know, I could check for you later this Friday and see if I could maybe get you preregistered, or if you'd want, I could send you the email of the person you'd need to talk to about it. Just send me an IM if I can help you out.
