Nope, you'd need new springs for more cam.

Define "stock computer", you can certainly go very big and still use the same old ECM, but the chip has to be changed.

Any cam change thats going to help you, is going to require a chip change, or its not worth the expense of doing it. Its going to require changing the springs also, to be worth the expense of changing. You dont want to pay somebody $500-1000 to R&R this thing and then only get 10hp because you didnt pick a cam much different than stock.

Shop for a "cam kit". These have the lifters, springs, and all of that good stuff. Some even have the rockers too. Sold as a package is usually much less expensive than buying seperately. Plus you know that they are all compatible together. As I understand it, the lifters should be replaced with a new cam anyway.

One of the best is the HotCam kit from GM. It includes the 1.6:1 roller rockers, springs, and cam. In addition, because it is so widely used in the LT1, getting a new chip is easy, since the chip burner will know just what to do. Finally, it makes good improvement in power while maintaining streetability.

Good luck.
