Default Where is the Turn Signal Flasher Really Located 1985?

I posted a thread earlier asking for the location of the turn signal flasher for an 85. A couple of people indicated that is was in the center instrument panel behind the information cenetr. In pulling this apart, I found the flasher that the guys are referring to, but this is not the turn signal flasher - it's the hazard flasher behind the info center. Service manual states that the turn flasher is "to the right of the information center behind the center I/P" but does not show where. Does anyone know the real location of the turn signal flasher unit?

It is located under the passenger side dash, right in line with the passenger side edge of the console. It is mounted about halfway up, clipped to the aluminum under-dash beam/brace.

Central -
The other thread was "dead" at the time and the tech info being posted was not correct, including the info posted there by you (you told me to "remove the dash pad..."). This required a new post to try to get the correct tech info - that's the purpose of this forum. Luckily, one of the guys over on the other thread revived the thread with the correct info in time to support my problem.

The correct answer is as stated by Mr6 above: The flasher is right up under the passenger side hush panel towards the tranny tunnel. Very easy to get to - it's not burried in there at all. Drop the hush panel, and it's located on a clip right there in plain sight.

NP, I wouldn't say my way was incorrect, there are many ways to skin a cat, my way was just more difficult. It sure was buried when getting to it from the top. Like mr6 said, it looked to be about halfway in between.

Thanks for the update, I don't want to give crappy advice and make it any more difficult for others than necessary.

It's like when you go to get your tonsiles pulled, and the doctor reaches in the long way from underneath.

I can't believe I'm taking pictures at 2:30 AM to answer a post...

The turn signal flasher is the round yellow guy in the pic. It's mounted in a clip to the left bracket that the carpeted dash piece bolts to (the two aluminum squares with holes). The wires trailing off to the right go to the ECM, which is normally mounted in the holder on the big cross brace, which is in the background (the cross brace, that is. The holder has been removed -- it mounts to the two white thingies in the pic). The aluminum bracket is located above where your left foot would be if you were sitting in the seat. You should be able to access the flasher by removing the bottom panel that has the footwell courtesy light in it (3 or 4 7mm screws). Interestingly, my panel is missing the leftmost hole, but there is a clip where it would be on the carpeted piece. The heater duct holds up that side anyway.

Hello Cliff, attached is a pic of my 86 Dash, in the foreground of the pic with the Corvette logo, is what I'm assuming all are calling the bread box, is that what has to be taken apart in order to get to the turn signal flasher?

You do not remove the "Bread Box".

The carpeted part below the bread box is call the hush panel and that is what you need to remove to gain access to the flasher.

Does anyone know of a louder flasher? Or one that chimes? At 57 with some hunting and music thrown in, I cannot hear the stock one on my '89. And I don't wanna be that guy going down the road.

There is "turn alarms" - some are called "beepers"! A "LOUDER" you would need to just experiment with various brands, I'd think a metal can style might be significantly louder. Maybe you just move the flasher closer to you. That should be simple enough.
