Also if I remember correct, one of the butterflies closes on an inset plastic part, maybe it swelled up.
That may help the sticking when coming off idle problem, but it will not help the hanging idle where they don't close fully.

Yes, 100% sure it is hanging open, as I said in the first post. I guess it's possible that something else is causing it to idle high as well, but it definitely is sticking open as I have verified several times.

Yeah, I went that route once already, turned out to be a waste of money. You're still dealing with a worn out throttle shaft. Even if they rebore it, is the bit going locate properly, or is it going to center itself in the exisiting worn hole and drill in at a slight angle? I think that's possibly what happened on mine.

RacerX pm'd me, I'll try one of his units out.

Thanks, but no thanks, BTDT x20. TPS and IAC affect idle quality, but have nothing to do with the blades physically hanging open.

I know they're a much softer rubber, unlike the hard plastic Corvette units. Why an aftermarket mfr would make the opening bigger just because they could, makes no sense.

Those Summit brand TB are re-boxed Professional Prouducts. Checked one out at the Summit store a few weeks ago when I was in Atlanta on leave. Same as the one I have.

Yes, it is sticking open...under engine vacuum only. What is "throttle follower code in the ecm" ??

Dunno, but it might have something to do with why the engine speeds up if you increase the TPS voltage. Wierd, as you do this test with the throttle blades shut the whole time. You'd think if anything it'd just richen it out and make it idle worse or stall.

Back to the top due to Holley being a piece of garbage. Typical problem .... sticking under vacuum, but closes perfectly with engine off. I cleaned the blades, cleaned the return spring. Not too many miles on it.

I had problems with AS&M years ago.

Are there any good brands out there ?

Central Coaster is alive and kicking on another Corvette site... ..He's a great guy and was one of the first Corvette gurus to help me when I joined the CF ..."Bogus" is also one that came back after being away for years, and it"s to everyones advantage that he did...We have lost alot of guys with extensive knowledge over the years for one reason or another....WW

Original TB got sloppy, leaked vacuum at the worn housing. Paid $150 for exchange on a machined with bearings on the shaft. Depending on how I adjusted the shaft end play, it would either hang up at high idle under vacuum, or stick coming off idle. I must have dicked with it and reassembled it 5 times. They are a tedious bitch to reassemble.

Tried a 3rd used throttle body, same crap, idle hangs under high vacuum. Weak springs maybe on this one?

The throttle cable has never been an issue. It only hangs when the car is running, under vacuum, and when it heats up I can watch the throttle stay off the stop by 1/8 inch.

I've f****ng had it with these garbage TBs. I can get a new Delco one for $350, or a new Holley one for $350. I've heard nothing but bad news about the BBKs.

Any suggestions?
Where can you get new delco tb?

It's a shame. $350+ for a name brand TB, and it's garbage. I wish I could find an OEM 48MM TB, and I'll back to stock any day.

Found an old CD with some drag racing with Central Coaster and Shinobi X those were fun days here on the forum, lots has changed since then.
