Since the power steering bracket bolts to both the drivers side head and the block down by the oli pan and timing chain cover....is it possible that the bracket will not longer fit in their proper holes after decking the block and resurfacing the heads.....or am I just overlooking something.
That thought occured to me to hog out the holes a bit in the bracket so I can get it to fit.
That happens from time to time. If the holes were close to begin with, .039 head gaskets and decking the block and heads .030(combined) could result in an .040 difference.
.040 is quite a bit.
I'm not sure how much everything was decked/shaved. My 88's power steering pump bracket is a one piece unit and does not allow for any play/swivel to the block and heads. The only swivel point is on the bracket that connects the motor mount to the P/S bracket.
Funny thing is that the A/C bracket bolted up fine and that also is connected to both the head and the block(via the H2O pump)
Just got back from AUTOZONE and borrowed their power steering pump pulley tool. I'm gonna remove the bracket and hog out the lower mounting hole on the drill press.
