Stroker rod-cam clearance
Hi
just wanted to ask...
i run these rods in my 396 Stroker..
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...T&autoview=sku
would they work with a "normal" camshaft, or will i have to get a small base circle cam?
thank you

I would think there is a good chance they will clear, but I would ask Eagle, directly.

The description says that they aren't clearanced for a stroker.
I kind of got caught up in the topic because even though they say they aren't clearanced they sure look like they would clear just fine.
Ends up I was right and so was the description. They will work...just not in a 396.

But, do call them and get it from the guys who really know.

Hi!!
i have special stroker clearanced rods p/n CRS(ESP) 6000BST, i bought them directly from eagle..did use a small base circle cam on my last built, but i really think its overkill...
also, just go to the bottom of the page in your ebay link...the rods, they are referring there, are the ones, i run...
i will, like CFE-EFI mentioned give them a call..unfortunately the eagle homepage seems to be down at the moment...
thank you

On my 398 - 3.875" stroke x 4.040"bore - first time around I used a Comp .900" base circle solid roller cam with the regular Eagle 3D rods with no clearance problems cam wise. This time around went with much more aggressive cam lobes - very similar durations, same .900" base circle - and had to clearance the shoulders of the rods for clearance. It wasn't a base circle clearance problem, but clearance at the flanks of the cam lobes.
Unless somebody's put together your exact combination you're not going to be able to get a definite answer.

Those are the rods I'm planning to use on my build.
I believe these are the rods that are included in the Eagle forged rotating assemblies with strokes starting at 3.800 on up.

are they clearanced on the one side only, is it obvious that they have had some material taken off?

Here are the rods I use with a 3.80" stroke. Plenty of cam clearance with a Hotcam.

Wow, those Featherlight H-Beam Rods are 100g lighter but only a $100 more.
How much do you think that 800g difference makes in the revs?
