How's it going neighbor?

I always have the debate about parking under a tree and keeping it somewhat cool but risk getting bird sh*t on it. Or park in the open and bake when you get back in it.

I would guess the coupe gets a lot hotter than my vert since I don't have all that glass in the back. The glass works like a greenhouse.

......the best way is to remove the refrigerant (recover) and to remove the evaporator and clean it with water and simple green (or similar)....some, if not most of the evaporator can be cleaned through the fan control module opening........(there is a post on this a few weeks ago) - use the search function.

Yes, like above, I used a toothbrush and a degreaser spray. I had to wipe it with a rag a lot. There is a recent thread on this that I started. I had no airflow at all and now it is working great!

Check out this TechTip link about halfway down the page, too. It tells you how to inspect/clean your C4 evaporator core.

My point is that you would be hard pressed to find a topic regarding C4 ailments that has not been covered here.

When I do the drive home from work at 4:00 the temp shows about 100+ on the temp readout. The inside of the car is really cooking to. Orland is hot as so is Huston. The vents, pluming, evaporator and everything is hot and it takes me 10-15 minutes before the internals start to cool down and starts blowing real cold air.

During that initial time the air coming out really feels like crap and can hardly feel it hitting me. This is also due the hot air in the car.

i have one of those ferguson, glass only, carcovers (i think they call them "sunshades") - you know, it covers the windshield, side windows, hatch, and glass top. i drive my car to work damn near everyday, and use it while the car sits in the parking lot under the hot sun. while it doesn't keep the interior cool, the interior doesn't hot and not above ambient temperature. when i leave work and take the cover off the interior is not hot from a runaway greenhouse effect. i start my AC immediately, and it starts pumping cool air in a very short period of time. it takes less than a minute to put the cover on and off. i got it from mid america.

on very hot days, bright sun, my AC is on max to maintain a comfortable temp. i may need the R12 topped off - haven't had the AC system serviced in 10 years.

Agreed, me to, and use a reflective sun shade. But its still hot in there because everything is radiating head.

I take it as a fact of life living in Florida.

My A/C is numbingly cold in the mornings, to the point I actually turn it down/off or open the windows a bit.

In the afternoons, after sitting in the sun all day, I barely get cooled off before I'm home (15 minute drive). I just drive home with windows open and the top off...
