Default 195 AFR Eliminators for 383 - other springs and retainers needed?

I got the 195 Eliminators for my Golen 383 a few days ago. Big thanks to Brian @ AD Performance for an outstanding customer service!

My cam is a Comp Cams custom roller cam
214/224 duration
.542/.579 lift
115 LSA

Are the AFR springs OK for my combo? AFR says they are good for .600 lift and with .579 I'm under it.

The readline will be a (sometime in the future supercharged) 6000 rpm.
Should I get Titanium retainers? Would save 8 grams per valve ...

Here are a few pics of the heads. I got the combustion chambers and valve faces coated by Swain Tech.

Damn, thats a beautiful head. Check with AFR and your cam manufacturer to see what they will recommend. They will need to be set up for correct seat/open pressures and coil bind. May be adequate as is but taking the extra time to make sure they are set up perfect for YOUR application will pay off inthe long run. Coating looks nice.

No need for the titanium stuff btw.

Yes I will check with AFR and Golen but I'd like to hear a few opinions from the forum members, too.

Those springs should work just fine with the mild camshaft you are going to be running. Also, if you only plan on turing it 6000 rpms, titanium retains aren't needed.

Very interested in seeing what this combo does. Which 383 did you go with?

I hope the springs in the AFR 195 Eliminators will be ok. I just got a set myself.

I'm gonna be using a Comp Cams
230/230
0.598 " lift with 1.6 Comp Cam Pro Mags

I hope the .600" lift springs will be ok, since I'm under that, just barely.

Chat Golen has built the 383 short block ...

- full set fof coated bearings
- internal balanced (front and rear), splayed 4-bolt block GenI SBC for roller cam, one piece rear seal
- Crank: Eagle 4340 forged steel
- Rods: Eagle forged 4340 H-beam, 6" length, floating pin
- Pistons: Mahle forged -16cc dished pistons
- Piston coating by Swain Tech, Gold Coat on dome and PC-9 on skirt
- Comp Cams custom roller cam 214/224 duration 531/568 lift@1.5 115 LSA
- Cloyes Hex Adjust timing set with billet top gear and a GM timing cover
- Pioneer 6 3/4 stock style performance damper
- Flex Plate for use with TH700 transmission, AFI Approved 152 tooth
- Melling high volume oil pump with pickup for stock pan

I ordered a Canton road race oil pan and will use a Super Ram intake.
The rocker studs of the AFR heads are upgraded to 7/16" ARP studs.
I'll post pics as soon as I got the block out of the crate ...
