Default Broken runner, LPE discontinued the Superram.

I bought a superram form a forum member a few weeks ago and in shipping one of the runners got damaged.

One cornor got broken off and the runner is twisted where it bolts to the plenum. There is also a crack down the center of the runner flange. In the condition it is in it is not usable. At this point I do not know if it can be fixed.

I start looking around the net for a set of runners and I could not find them. I called LPE and they said the superram has be discontinued. I could not believe it.

As it stands I cant buy runners and I dont know if I can fix the one I have.

Any ideas what I can do???

The plenum I have is in good condition as is the other runner.

BTW, I know the seller shipped it in good condition and he packed it good so it must of got damaged in shipping.

Thanks, Dave

A picture of the damaged runner would help, but if all else fails, I bet a talented machinist could fab you up a workable replacement if yours is beyond repair.

Yeah they discontinued a lot of things for the C4's but maybe thats a good thing cause if my headers ever break i'd be more than happy to throw them in the garbage. One of the things I feel they should have been more concerned about was ease of installation, which must have been the last thing on their minds after looking at the SR and their headers.

Couple of pic of the twist in the runner. I hope the link works.

I went to the LPE site about a month ago and they still had the superram listed for sale.

I know the broken peice can be welded back on. Its just the twist Im worried about.

Thanks

I'm not crass enough to light people up so my replies/threads get noticed, but I've posted this before. And even though when you hit this link it does not show part numbers for the SR stuff, there is a picture of them. So I called, and they can special order what you want from accel - the guy said the part numbers are still active, they just don't list them on their site. You can get SR plenum/runners from accel through jeg's, if I'm not making myself clear.

Just called Jegs and they do not have the runners or plenum. They don't even have a P/N for them.

I guess I have see if mine can be fixed.

I would call Accell directly first. Their part of Mr. Gasket, which was bought by Prestolite Performance (whoever they are, I'd never heard of them prior to this), so I can't guarantee this contact info's still good, but it should be.

Accel Tech. Support

216.688.8300

Mon.-Fri. EST Address:
ACCEL Technical Service Dept.
Mr. Gasket Company

They also have tech. email form @ http://www.accel-ignition.com/AskTec...aspx?BrandID=3.

I looked in the 2007 Catalog, it didn't list the runners seperately, but it does list the runners and plenum as a kit, so I bet if you call them and tell them one of your runners was damaged in shipping to an engine builder or something (so they won't think you just bought it and are trying to file a damage/ warranty claim), and you would like to purchase a replacement, they'll probably work with you. Usually just depends on how you approach them as to wether or not they'll go out of their way to help you.

Dave,
for whatever reason I think I may have a set of spare runners.

I would have to locate the parts, which may take a bit.
Shoot me a PM if you wish to talk about it.

I cannot remmeber the condition, I think one of the set of runners was like 1/4 way through a polish job... I really cant remember.
