L98 intake manifold
Are they all the same? For example, would an edlebrock TPI intake manifold from an 87 camaro, work on a 90 vette?

Re: L98 intake manifold (TexCorvette)
Tex,
I am pretty sure the intakes are not the same. If you look on Lingenfelter's web site - they list different Super Ram intakes for corvettes VS Camero/Firebirds, etc.

Vette intakes have external EGR while 3rd gen F-bodys have internal. There are differences from year to year too, like no cold-start injector after '88 and intake base bolt hole angles, etc.

Re: L98 intake manifold (TexCorvette)
I just installed the Edelbrock TPI intake on my L98. I have been having some problems but need to verify they are not a vaccuum leak or bum EGR or??? before I say if it is a bad or good choice. It was a new unit from Summit, they show two part #'s covering years 85 to 92 5.0 or 5.7 motors. One is machined for centerbolt v/c heads, the other is not. The Ed is the least $ of all the companies' intakes but it may not be the best flowing unit(?). I'll update in approx two-three weeks when I hook up tuning software and really check every little thing on my motor.

what exactly are the problems your having paul? just curious i was about to buy the same lower manifold. also the flow is fine, some minor port matching will improve it even more but you can get it to fit quite well against the d port L98 head & gasket match. are the bolt holes correct? i have a 90 so we would need the same part. the only manifold i've heard zero complaints on is the TPIS..but the edelbrock price looked a lot more attractive

Re: L98 intake manifold (importeater)
I get violent shaking of the whole motor when starting(intermittent) or letting the clutch out too much(always). The EGR valve rattles very loudly under hard throttle. When the EGR valve rattles, the POWER comes in bigtime. I have to feather the clutch and give it more gas than usual when lights turn from red to green. Bolt holes line up just fine but they look wierd. I will give the motor attention after this holiday crazyness goes by. I need to make sure everything else is good before I blame the manifold.

Thanks guys, keep me posted. Want to get SLP runners, and I think I should do the intake at the same time.

Check the thirdgen board too. Many people have had problems with the Edelbrock base, especially with injector depth. Also, there was a bolt pattern change but don't remember what year that took place.
