Default fluxuating tach on 85

Hey guys, the tach on my 85 has gone crazy as of late, it bounces all over the place during hard accel. Whats up with that?

Sounds like you need to check your tach filter connections at the distributor/filter and inspect the distributor internals . If not there, check wiring to dash, if not there, do the dash ground maintenance and repair. HTH

Check that the tach filter has a good ground to the block too. If it's loose the tach gauge will go crazy. I had that problem at high RPMs and tightening the filter mount to the block cured it.

When mine did this, the timing was WAY off, and the distributor gear crapped out and had to be replaced a couple of weeks later. Now that the timing is set, and the gear replaced...., smooth as silk.
