A couple questions on buying a used chip
I have a 92 auto with about 100k miles that is just about stock that I use for an everyday driver in the summer.
I have a chance to buy a used Ed Wright 'stage 2' chip from a 93. Is this pretty much interchangeable with my 92? I saw on his web site that the stage 2 requires a 160 stat but have heard mixed reviews about going with the 160 stat. I don't want to do anything that may give me cause future problems with my car.
Because of the high miles on the car (and how hard I drive it) I don't want to do anything that will affect the reliablity. Would it be safe to get this chip and a 160 stat?
The only other mod I plan on doing is a Corsa exhaust but would I have to have the chip reprogrammed for that?

Re: A couple questions on buying a used chip (Gixxer)
Changing the fuel and timing curves should be okay with any car milage, you're driving habits are probably more to be concerned about :D As far as the exhaust, I doubt that there would be any benefit or change required when this mod is installed as it is very minor in nature.
I had a stock chip for my then stock 95 GMC truck (the logo on the website), added K&N filter and cat back exhaust and it ran great with the stock chip.

Both 1992 and 1993 are speed density. That I am sure of. If you can, I suggest you try out the chip for a little while before you actually purchase it.

Whoops - just checked with the TunerCat site, 92 and 93 do use the same ECM definition file, so in fact the chips will be similar at least. Sorry for the confusion.
