NOS ZR-1 at the 1/8 mile track
Joel (4cefed) and I took the ZR-1 out to our local 1/8 mile dragstrip friday night. We wanted to get some timeslips to back up the dyno numbers.
I was able to muster a 7.64et at 94.6mph. It should be a couple of tenths quicker as I was taking it easy of the line.
Based on those numbers I should be around 11.50's at 125mph or so. Not bad considering my car is bone stock except for the NOS dry shot.
Also, I had the fastest car that drove in and out of the track. That felt good.

Re: NOS ZR-1 at the 1/8 mile track (No Go)
Hey that is a great time! I have not seen many vettes that fast at our track. We have a 2001 Sallen that is wickedly fast, 7.09 in the 1/8 and a real fast lightning runs 7.74 in the 1/8. Mine well its a 84 bone stoc except for no cats, and cold air box runs 8.64, need 200 more ponys!

Congrats !!! Thats pretty stout.
Try to hit a 1/4 mile track... I would think the ZR-1 motor would really love the 2nd half of the track.
cheers,

My 60's were modest 2.0's so I know the car has a couple of tenths left on the table.
What is amazing is that my car is completely and utterly bone stock. The NOS kit is the ONLY modification that is done to the car.

1 word buddy:
SLICKS!
With some slicks on that car, you should be able to turn some FAST timeslips. Heck, my stock 85 with STREET tires could cut a 2.0 in the 60'. I'm SURE the ZR1 with some slicks could cut a 1.6x. What kinda gears do you have in the back? I would either throw in some 3.73's or even 4.10's (because you have the 6 speed tranny)
With just some good gears and slicks, with that NOS kit, your car should get into the 10's without a problem.
10 Sec ZR1 = BAD behind!!!

Re: NOS ZR-1 at the 1/8 mile track (TIMSPEED)
Timspeed, you are right. All the 10 second Vettes are running ET Streets or slicks. The stock gears are 3.45's and they don't help the 60ft at all. They do help take advantage of the 566RWTQ that the car is putting out though. Once moving the tall gears are probably better.
The downside is street driving with ET Streets. They are marginal on the street and that's where I spend the majority of my time. It's kind of neat to be able to drive into the strip, bust out some fast times, then drive it home.
When the 1/4 mile strip opens up next spring I plan on getting some sticky tires and making some runs to see if it's possible to run a stock ZR-1 into the low 11's with NOS.
