Unless you are going to be running a blower our nitrous you will probably be just fine with the stock pump. Just put a gauge on it and see if it drops at WOT, I think you'll be suprised. I am running 24 lb injectors on my 350 and it keeps right up, only in the extreme RPMS should yours start to fall.

My stock pump could not keep up. I put in the big Bosch pump that http://www.tpis.com sells. It was not very difficult for a dummy like me to put in. In the picture you can see the difference in size. The stock pump is even smaller than it appears in the picture because it has a black foam wrapper on it to make it quieter. The Bosch one costs about $180 from TPIS. They even pack it with directions how to put it in. It is a bit louder than the stock one but who cares? I like to hear it humming away back there cuz then I know it's pumping that wonderful gas up front so I can stomp on it.

I would suggest the Walbro pump. Same size as stock but will outflow most aftermarket pumps.

I ran a Walbro in my Turbo T-Bird and I was happy with it because it was quiet and put out. Which Walbro would you suggest?

Improving horsepower and efficiency at the same time basically amounts to getting more mass airflow through the engine. With the LT1 you really don't have to worry about the fuel side. The fuel system is adequately sized for even major modifications and will automatically adjust to more airflow. I now have a 383 stroker with 500 hp and the stock fuel system is keeping up.

I went through three pumps. I purchased a Bosch pump from LPE(GARBAGE, the pump obviously not LPE) and it DID NOT last. A friend has one in His IROC and it just crapped out. Then went to an LT-1 pump..it had a bad check valve(pressure dropped and it took literally forever to start) got a refund, and Jeff Kopp set me up with a Vortec truck pump...GM's highest volume pump. I couldn't be happier. Stable FP, plenty of fuel, and stock look/easy maintenance. KEEP IT SIMPLE. Good luck. You ought to be fine with the stock unit.

I'm in the same boat as you, Fastguy. My fuel pump failing and I may be borderline on a stock pump anyway. I think I'm going to look for a Walbro 255 lph pump. I've looked for a few suppliers but so far I've only found these companies based on some recent threads. I've heard that these pumps can be purchased for around $95, which is only $20 more than a stocker.

I of coarse used the high pressure hose,,,,and double clamps on both ends,,,,,no problems,,,,,oh well,,,,what works for some won't work for others. Stop shivering JD 90,,,come to MN and then we'll talk about shivering.

I have the Walbro GSS340 which is the high pressure 255lph pump. They also have the standard GSS307 pump that flows 255lph but does not function as well at high pressures (70-80psi). I paid about $115 for the GSS340.
The stock pump did not keep up with my 396 and a 200 shot of juice (about 570 rear wheel horse power).

I have that same Bosch pump on my car. My installation is a little neater  but basically the same. I have had no prolems with mine. If I were to do it over again, I would go with the one that fits in the stock housing.

Re: Feul pump recommendations for 383?
I just found this place is selling Walboro for a discount. The 307 is the regular 255, the 340 is the high pressure 255.
