Slave cylinder modification - who's done it?
My car is on jackstands at the moment while I do a few other things and I'm thinking now might be a good time to do that slave cylinder mod.
I know how to do it, my question for those of you who have done it is whether it basically means the pedal reacts higher up in its travel? My understanding of the way it works is that for a given amount of pedal travel, more fluid is transferred to the slave cylinder, meaning that the pedal would "react" in a higher than usual position in its normal travel. Does this sound right?
Any feedback from those who have done it? Would I be right in not expecting a big difference?
TIA

I haven't seen or heard of this mod...
Do you have a link to an article that describes it?

I just rebuilt my master and slave cylinders. I don't think it is possible. The purpose of the slave cylinder is to fill with fluid to compensate for clutch wear. (It was a real PITA to bleed)

If the C4 setup is similar to the LS1's on camaros (I think it is) then it is possible and beneficial. DRM sells a C4 setup already modded or atleast used to.
My understanding is while accelerating thru the gears-by the shift to third the restrictor in the return line is restricting flow too much and not allowing full disengagement of the clutch (slight) but enough to allow clutch slippage. Tell me is that is correct or not. I had planned to try the mod as it isn't hard except making sure no air in system when done like was stated abover.
Just drill out the restrictor. I have an article on it in Chevy High Performance mag...
Not sure about quicker reacting...but I guess you could say that...

Re: Slave cylinder modification - who's done it? (No Go)
For those that asked, here is a link to some info about the mod: http://www.zr1.net/ZR1_issues.html
The slave cylinder mod is number 26 in the issues list.
I'm not sure either, I'm just going off what the DRM literature says and my non-mechanic theory on how it works.
Thanks for the replies. If I have time I'll give it a go. In the meantime, if anyone else can chip in with more information, please do.

I used the excuse of not having a bleed screw on my original slave to get Rippie's modded one, along with the newer style factory braided line. Frankly, I couldn't see much of a difference, other than a firmer pedal due to finally being able to *bleed* the slave!
