Default zz4 block/ 6speed conversion/4+3

hi im going with a zf 6 speed to replace my 4+3,
im kind of confused and it maybee because im an idiot haha,

I bought the car, rebuilt the engine, the car being an 85', the car had an 92' short block with the 85' heads on it, so i bout a ZZ-4 short block, intalled after market top end ect.
But the ? is i used my old flywheel with the ZZ-4 being the same one pice rms. replaced the clutch with a 4+3 one after the one in it from before started slipping.and the clutch sucked, for obvious reasons, now i know why, there had to of been a later year clutch in it, if that makes sence..
So to get this rite i guess all i need is a blue tag zf-6 wich i got already, a 94-96 flywheel, clutch, bellhousing, zf rear ds yoke, and a mini starter? is there anything else that i may need, if im on the rite track? thanks, mike

Default back track

oem 4+3 clutch is crippled by corporate edict that an anorexic female be able to press the pedal...changing to a zf gets you a "second" overdrive that is geared too high for anything other than fooling the fed gas mileage test, eventual high repair bills.

put a good aftermarket clutch in front of the 4+3 and paint a few extra white lines on top of your shift ****, enjoy.

If your 4+3 is working just get a better clutch. The centerforce dual-friction is a great option, or Anesthes knows a place with a cheaper version of that same setup. Also, when you replaced the clutch did you replace the pressure plate too or just the clutch disc. I've got a Ram 3200# pressure plate and a Ram organic disc using normal 4+3 bellhousing/clutch hydraulics. It'll blow the rear apart before the clutch slips.

im doing the 6speed conversion, maybee i should have worded the topic differently
the 4+3 is recked from the power so thats why in replacing with a zf-6
im just wondering if me having the zz4 engine how that works with the zf-6 because the zz4 is the same as the 96' short blocks rite?
im just kinda confused im not good at reading and comprehending whats going on with the conversions and the parts needed from the different years of cars and such maybee im just thinking too much

Ok. The ZZ4 is the same (in terms of the block) as the '92 block so you don't have to worry about that.

Are you sure a ZZ4 is the same as a '92 block? I thought '92's were LT-1 cars. I think the ZZ4 is the same as a L-98 block. Years ago I put a ZZ4 in my '86 and it was pretty much a direct fit. I thought the LT-1/4's were a bit different but maybe I'm wrong.
