Hey folks, I did a search and did not find anything.
Trying to get my steering wheel off (1984 vette), and it appears the threaded holes used for the puller are metric?
All the bolts that came with my puller will not fit....too big or too small of a diameter. The puller came with 5/16 course and fine threaded bolts and neither will work...must be metric right?
My 88 Vette is all metric. I changed the steering wheel. It's no big deal. Pop off the horn button. I used a lug wrench on the big nut. If you have the right tools, it's simple. You need a wheel puller and a spring compressor. I bought a wheel puller that had about 8 sets of bolts. I just had to find the right ones to fit my Vette. I got mine at Sears. Make sure you mark where the steering wheel lines up on the shaft before you pull it off. You will need a special tool to remove the clip.

If you have the push/pull adjustable steering column, be sure to put a bolt in the center hole where the locking screw goes before you put the wheel puller on it (I wouldn't recommend using the screw that is there for fear of damaging it). Otherwise you may crush the top threads of the column like I did.
Thanks, that is what I did, they still will not start so I'm figuring someone took the wheel off before and buggered the threads, so I bought a Tap to clean the threads up.
