Suddenly no backup lights on '91 ZR-1. Checked bulbs and fuse, both look good. Is the next most likely culprit the backup switch mounted on the transmission?
When my back-up lights quit, I went down the same road as you. I finally pulled the connector off the switch at the trans and jumped the connector. Bingo they came on...replaced switch. All fine now.

I had the same thing happen several months ago.. it is the back-up switch. I have a picture of the culprit on my webpage under "Other mods/info"... that's what you have to replace.......the clutch cyl is in the way, but it's a 1/2 hour job for a good mechanic at most.

Well you all were right, sort of. I managed to pull the connector off and jump the wires and WA LA the back-up lights came on. I put the connector back on the switch because I couldn't get the switch off due to it's tight location and my lack of a lift. The back-up lights started working! :D
For one day. :cuss
Will give it another try when I can get it on a lift or get access to the switch.
