My vehicle speed sensor is bad on my 92 auto and needs to be replaced. I looked up the procedure in my FSM and it says that I need a speed sensor removal tool.
Has anyone removed theirs before? What exactally is a speed sensor removal tool?
There is a "Y" shaped retainer or yoke, with one bolt through it onto the trans tail shaft housing. Remove the bolt and retainer then pull the VSS out of the trans. There is an "O" ring around the VSS that will try to keep the VSS in the trans. Then use special tool #J12345 to pop the top on a beer can.

I've never used a tool for this on any other VSS I've ever done but mine is still leaking even after replacing the o-ring, so today I bought a new AC Delco VSS and installed the o-ring and tried like hell to put it in tonight and it simply will not go in all the way to the step in the bore..as near as I can tell it's about .180 from the end. I lubed everything up good and inspected the bore for any nicks and it's nice and smooth...anyway, upon removing it from the housing to figure out what was happening the stupid aluminum ring holding the plastic end to the diecast housing kinda wadded up and then the thing finally let go and of course fell on the floor and broke flushed that 140.00 down the drain...anybody know where else to buy one besides ACD?...maybe Napa or something? I'm thinking there's a QC issue with the ACD's right now.
