Default 88 tpi recommend a head

Member here is doing his first engine build and cutting his teeth on the what abouts, project creep etc

His 113s are pooched, planned on porting them for him
So figured Id build him a set of import heads, pick them up some but my supplier cant get the 190cc versions right now. Have a bunch of the 200cc versions here, 1 finished...it may work fine but a little big.

Goal is a strong smooth idling smog legal tpi (ca)without going too crazy on money.

Eliminator heads are simply not $ feasible for him.
know trick flow makes a 305 small valve alum head thats 58cc but no idea on flow#, price might be an issue
May as well get a 2.00 or 202 valve in there.
He has a real nice TPI intake system will beusing 1-3/4" shorties etc.
Leery of used heads unless I knew for sure they were super lo mi and didnt need work

Suggestions?

Planned on a 64cc set as they are common and compensating compression with a different piston
MIlling them that far, milling intake invites problems if not done right

I doubt the intake port volume matters all that much on a tpi motor. The intake manifold is going to overwhelm any difference in head port velocity.

True...I did the intake yrs ago depending on the runner its 260-270cfm.
Personal car is kinda backwards like that...small ported single plane, 230cc head.

tpi421vette is getting him set up wtih some AFR 195 enforcers, going to do a little work on top of that.
Ill get them to at least 195 Eliminator numbers maybe a bit more, has to be under 5cc port volum increase.doable

Should be a real strong runner that truly passes smog..fun build.

With a speedpro coated hyper FT piston, block decked .010 and his .043 head gasket he should have around 9.9 to 1 CR
The factory used a .063? If he can go .026 that would put him around 10.25.

Search over...thanks tpi421vette!

I was going to say try the enforcers. Been waiting for someone to use them. If you don't mind sharing the work as you go, I'd love to see it.

Will do..6 week wait . Owner of the car will probably put up an entire engine build thread.
Done a set of those didnt say afr on them.

Looking for a sim program that may show the entire curve not just peak # just for fun.
What Im interested in is the actual # on the rollers and possibly an emission printout vs bone stock.
Today thats a big deal in Ca or challenge anyways.

I remember that thread. My understanding is that there are a couple differences still, correct? Like the 8mm valves AFR uses and some small things with the casting but otherwise almost identical I assume? In which case I will review that again.

Curious as to how this build turned out. Looking at a set of Enforcers myself.
