Default LT1: which muffler do you use?

Which aftermarket muffler do you use?
I'm looking for increased power but don't care if it is louder then stock, (although those elements seem to go hand in hand=)
I'm on a tight budget so low cost ideas are welcome.
Thanks
Evan

Rear mufflers only --stock cats and resonator--fairly quiet at cruising speeds---I personally like the sound under acceleration---sounds more like i think a Vette should---they are stainless--although I don't like the "polished shine" look from the rear and side view--I'll likely paint the mufflers flat black and leave the tips as they are---found them on ebay and i think they were around $356.00 to my house---some manufacturers have sites where you can "hear" what the system should sound like on your model of car--but it's hard to tell thru PC speakers--best if you know someone with a car like yours to hear what it will truly sound like I like mine-not to quiet -not to loud--but it's really personal preference'

CorvetteCentral's HOT ('high-output turbo') mufflers. The sound is great - see yt clip link in sig. Cost is not bad, too.

And sounds like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAReLmJLTlk

But don't expect any HP gains, the factory set-up is nearly perfect as far as HP goes. Long tube headers, hi flow cats, and and x-pipe will get you a little HP with the stock LT1, but not a lot without other mods.

Richard Newton says the stock cast manifolds flow better then aftermarkets but I can't believe that uncorking the mufflrs won't increase a little power

Default I like Power Effects adjustable mufflers

I like the Power Effects cat-back adjustable muffler system. I've had them for 10 years and they still work great! They have a six position adjustable cut-out that can be used all the way closed for full muffled sound to all the way open like a straight pipe or anywhere in between. Adjustment is easy from the side with a large aluminum dial. For more info go to:

Default Stree Pro Electric Exhaust Cut-Out

I just found this website as I was searching to see if anyone had developed an electric solenoid for exhaust cut-outs. This may be an option for you.

http://streetpro.us/index.html

For some reason Power Effects mufflers hasn't developed one of these although early in their advertising they claimed one was in development. I'm going to see if this one could be adapted or if they want to make a custom auto cut-out for the PE mufflers.

I've got muffler eliminators, but you can do it cheaper / better at a local shop.

For the blower engine, I bought a set of B&B's

Evan, just remove the stock mufflers and gain power from the weight savings. On the LT1 everything I've heard says that the stock exhaust is not restrictive until you are pushing 400 rwhp. Once your budget improves .... get a set of long tubes

Mine is stock. It is fine for me, my L98 had some resonance issues, but this car has none.

Sooner or later by not running some type of muffler you will burn a piston. Two guys in our club has done it.

I agree! I just bought a C4 with these mufflers and they are very nice, but you better like the car loud.

I've got LT headers, random cats, and 3" stainless tubes with the Power Effects mufflers. They also do not have that awful droning sound.

Running with mufflers only wasn't the sole cause for piston failure. However, running freer flowing exahaust is known to make the engine run leaner. So in addition to running without mufflers it might be a good idea to upsize the injectors. On a relatively stock motor you should be OK with 24lb like the Ford SVO's. Anymore mod's may require a bigger injector. I run 30lb with my 396.
