Default F45 sims

I am working on a GS that has F45. We are wanting to put a non adjustable set of shocks on the car for autocrossing. If I disconnect the shock and leave the electronic connection unhooked will it throw a code and if so will it hurt anything? Is there a device to fool the computer?

Thanks

Yes, it should "throw a code", albeit only the 'selective ride' computer (not the PCM/BCM 'check engine' light -- just the 'selective ride' light(s) on the DIC. You can just ignore the lights (or remove the bulbs if a long-term situation).

Would recommend unplugging and removing the shock actuators (motors on top of shock), and storing them with the shocks (as they are valuable and the next owner might want them back), and taping the connector to prevent water intrusion and a short (which could damage the selective ride computer).

A 200 ohm in-line resistor solves the problem.

There are no motors on top of the F45 shocks. They are different than the earlier FX3 shocks.

It will throw a code and turn on the dash light but it won't hurt a thing.

Before you change the shocks, you may want to try the car first with the solenoids unplugged. The shocks are designed to be in the firmest setting with no power applied to the solenoids. The damping in the firm setting is quite a bit stiffer than most aftermarket performance shocks.

I know it seems like the F45 shocks don't have enough damping for track/autocross work, but keep in mind that under most operating conditions, the control algorithm will never command full damping.

Default umm...like I said earlier...

...a 200 ohm in-line resistor will keep the warning light from lighting up...

I have made up my resistor. Do I disconnect the position sensor and loop back to the computer or the wire to the motor that changes the shock setting?

thanks

Turns out it's a 220 not 200 ohm resistor as noted in the following "Grand Sport Tech Tip":

http://www.hashmarks.com/techtips/f4...placements.htm

I believe the Koni replacement shocks may come with the resistor, so check there also.

In the meantime here's a CF thread that says "just pull the dash light blub":
