Default Mystery?

I would appreciate any insight-When I initially turn the key(but do not yet power the starter)on my '85 L98, The fuel pump no longer comes on for a couple seconds as it should. This obviously leads to a loooooong crank to start(once on the engine runs normally to full RPM). Replacing the relay made no difference. I came to the point of installing a switch to directly power the fuel pump just at startup! Again, any help is appreciated.
Thanks-Tim.

Maybe you should check the fusible link. Also check the wires going into the back side of the fuel pump relay.

Thanks for your response, Rick. The fusible link and wiring are good. Any other ideas?
Thanks, Tim.

Put a test light on terminal "C" of relay and check to see if it lights up for 2 seconds, when ignition is turned to "run". If it doesn't, than the problem is between relay and ECM.
