Default My brakes suck, and I don't know why

My '92 Vette has bad braking power. I replaced the pads and rotors, and flushed and bled the system with no luck. So I changed the brake booster, and that didn't do anything. What else is there to do? When you try to brake you have to push the pedal really hard and it doesn't stop that well. My wife's Malibu's brakes work better. When the rotors get wet in the rain, they really don't brake well. Also,on the rear rotors, about 1cm of the rotor isn't getting enough friction with the pads to rub the corrosion off. So now the corrosion has built up and causes squeaking while driving. Thanks for the help

you might have a vacuum leak going to the brake booster. check all of the hoses and make sure there are no pinholes or cracks...

Try a new checkvalve - where the hose goes into the Booster - if it didn't come with it. Check for swollen hoses, dragging parking brake. May be time to rebuild calibers - how many miles?

140,000 miles. I thought about rebuilding the calipers. Also, the system is losing some fluid. I checked everywhere, including at the ABS system and can't find any leaks. I thought my booster was bad, so I swapped it out with a used one that I found in "good" condition. Well, it turns out that my booster was good, and the used one was trash. I'll swap out the check valve haven't thought about that and recheck for vacume leaks.

It's probably time to change the master cylinder.
