LT4 Hotcam springs are cheap and appropriate. If you're going to the trouble of changing cams, don't reuse old springs.

That Cam,with 1:5 Rockers ,only has .474"/.501" Lift. Might be OK with stock springs but GREGGPENN is correct use the LT4 or maybe any type made with ovoid (egg shaped) wire wich I believe the LT4's are..
BTW..That's an excellent Cam for your 89' TPI. I ran that one in my 84' 355 HP.

i thought hotcam springs were 1.32" diameter. I dont know what the pocket is on L98 Aluminums, but on the L98 Iron heads they wont accept springs bigger than 1.30", since stock is 1.25" i believe.
AFR sells their 1.27 springs which are awesome springs for the price and will fit stock pockets. They are alittle overkill tho for that cam. Other choices would be the 981 beehives but they are kinda pricey as well.
manley has a nice single spring I believe that is 1.25 diameter or so. 22410 i think the part number is.

I have the lt4 hot springs and they fit like a glove
I bought the springs, retainers and locks and used the stock seats
My cam is a CC502 218/224 .495 .503

ok I have my mind set on the lt4 springs. Guess I need retainers and maybe keepers. Anyone know who would have the best deal on these? Or by some chance can I use my old retainers and keepers?

thanks for the help. I have one more question. Should I run 21 LBS. injectors on the l98 I'm building? Everything will basically be stock except the zz4 cam, and the flat top pistons I'm putting in my motor. Maybe add some bolt ons for the tpi system later on but this is something I need to know before I order my parts.

Later datalogging showed it could have benefited from minor adjustments to the tune ( mainly spark advance ) but otherwise it was fine.
