Relearn 1986 computer
Something's probably amiss in the distributor. I'd first check that all the connectors are clean and tight, the ones plugged into the distributor cap and those to the module located under the distributor cap.
I'd then remove the ignition module from under the distributor cap and have it tested at AutoZone or O'Reilly's; they do it for free.
If it checks OKAY, I'd next suspect the coil. There a test procedure in the Factory Service Manual you can use to check it; I don't know if AutoZone, etc., test those though. Look carefully at the coil for any visible sign of it shorting or over-heating.
I'd also check the rotor for any sign of cracking. Next would be the pickup coil.
Also, if all else checks okay, I'd look at the gear on the distributor. If the teeth are shot it will prevent the distributor from turning, so there will be NO SPARK.
Hope this helps.
