Default Super Ram Torque Curve

I've purchased a used Accel SR and I'm planning on coupling it with a Lingenfelter 74219 cam and AFR 195 heads. I'm stuck with using the stock exhaust manifolds due to CA smog laws but the rest of the exhaust has been increased to 2-1/2" dia with a Magnaflow cat and Corsa exhaust. I've heard th SR, cam and heads should be a fairly common combination. I was wondering if anyone has dyno results from this or something very similar. I'm curious how much torque will be lost on the bottom end.

I do not believe you will notice any torque loss on the bottom end. A very similar combination to yours made max torque peak at 4100 RPM and HP peak at 5300 RPM.

I also have a superram. I have headers and duel exhaust, I keep the stock exhaust to pass smog every 2 years. I didn't notice any drop in torque. I don't have any before and after dyno numbers, but the car ran quicker at the drags.

You wont really lose anything on the bottom end of the power band.

Thanks guys. I suspect there will be some loss but hopefully not enough to feel.

your not going with dougs? they bolt right up with some smog tube mods and is reversible, if you hang on to your stock straws.

Yea, I was looking at the runners on the Super Ram. They are quite a bit larger than the stock runners. It only makes sense the exhaust should be the same size. After the next smog check I may get some 1-3/4" long tubes. The extra power is very tempting. They're just a hassle to swap out every two years.

Thanks. I'll check that out. Most guys don't understand the whole EO thing. If I could do a swap that doesn't require a new front Y hat would be a big plus.

Below is my graph from LPE. Don't know if this will help you at all but thought I would throw it up for you.

That helps a lot. I can live with a dyno like that. Your build is very similar to what I'm planning. What are you doing for exhaust?

I have LPE SS 1 5/8 long tubes, no cat then y-pipe into Mid America chambered muffler elims. It's loud, fubared my digi camera mic when I did my first burnout.

I can't remember how to post youtube vids but if you go and search "snakecharmer383" you will find it.

My car is currently at the shop. Getting Spec Stage 2+ with alum. flywheel plus complete new rearend from www.newmancarcreations.com with 3.73 gears. Ripper shifter and some DRM camber and trailing arm brackets for the suspension. I can't wait!!

I worked over a Super-Ram intake manifold and runners. This was on a 400 cubic inch SBC. I opened up the intake manifold runners and shaped the entry into the heads to a better angle.

The runners themselves are somewhat restricted in the "elbow" area. I opened them up and and shortened the runners to two inches. Anyways the motor increased in both torque and horsepower even with the shorter runners. There is a thread on 3rdgen.org with pictures and results. Here is a link to that thread.

Yea, I figured you needed something better than stock manifolds to get those numbers. Still very impressive for small diameter headers.

So if the muffler eliminators FUBARed your camera, Just think what they are doing to your ears. I had the Mid America eliminators when I first got the car. Could not hold a conversation inside. Went to Corsa and never regretted it.

That's some great work you've done. You're setting a standard very few can keep up with.

Thank you. I don't have many passengers with me so I'm used to talking to myself! Never been a big fan of mufflers. I was thinking about jumping up to 1 3/4 headers if I could find a deal on a set.

Good luck in your build.
