I have a quick question ...please

I also have a 1995 cougar & the check engine light poped on. How do I get the diagnostic codes? Any simple way? Nothing is wrong to the eye??

Mercury Cougar? I would think you would cross two leads on the ALDL just like any other OBD-I car.
