Default oil pressure sensor - leaking?

I've been fighting a leak on my LT1 for about a year now (I take my time since it's not a DD). I've replace the valve cover gaskets, and the intake manifold gaske but it's still leaking.
Based on searches I've done here it looks like my next step is the oil pressure sensor.

Does anyone here have pics of the oil pressure sensors and locations on an LT1?

I seem to find lot's of pics for L98's but not LT1's

Thanks

thanks for the info. have any pictures?

by the way I see you're in MD also. I just moved here from Florida. Learning the hard way about vehicle and emissions inspections here. apparently the state takes this fairly seriously. Florida, not so much

any recommendations on local corvette mechanics?

on my 91, it was actually pretty simple. you can get a socket on it with no real gymnastics. the hardest part was making sure you got the pipe threads lined up. I used a deep socket, i forget what size.

this sensor was leaving a nice puddle of oil every time i parked. so nice to have a "dry" car again.

at first I thought it was the usual culprit, valve cover gaskets, but those checked out okay. then i was worried it was the rear main seal.

this was so much simpler and oh what a relief.

Oh, are you just removing the large black piece that is the sensor? Or removing the piece from the block? And I'm assuming there isn't alot of oil that comes out when you pull the sensor?

I was thinking you had to remove the piece from the block. But I guess if that part is leaking, then replacing that is hard as when I was looking there before, I did'nt see any room to get in there.

i only removed the sensor. the clue was when I pulled the electrical connector off of the sensor, the electrical connector contacts were soaked in oil.

the pipe threads themselves usually don't leak once they've been installed by the factory. it seems the sensor springs an internal leak.

Were your oil pressure readings bad or did you just have leak?

In my case only a leak. The case failed at the crimp which didn't affect the pressure sensor.

If you look back there where the EGR valve is, look directly under it. It is right there. Just like the pics posted here, although that is not an LT1. It is where the distributor would normally be. Pretty easy to see if you just look back there

When I rebuilt my motor, I forgot to reinstall the oil pressure sensor before priming the motor. It was like hitting oil in the mid-east! It took a long time to clean that mess up!! Luckily I was spinning the primer tool with a drill and I could stop it as soon as I realized what was happening!

I found it. It looks like I'll have to take out the air hose and maybe the EGR to get to it.

Thanks for all the good info
